Director, Coding and Compliance
Ms. Williams is the newest member of the Welther Healthcare Partners family and senior executive team, and she brings with her 26 years of end-to-end revenue cycle skills and experience.
Leading the charge in the business of medicine, Ms. Williams:
- Maximized operations in both small and large multi-specialty practices
- Runs a claims division with mega-data analytics for a health plan processing over 75 million claims per year in her shop
- Developed a 7 hospital health systems first payment variance department
- Identified and resolved a $47 million variant windfall, which brought in over $18 million within the first 45 days of implementation
- Initiated enterprise-wide projects that became integral parts of operations and are still in place to-date.
Ms. Williams is a certified professional coder and approved coding instructor with the privilege of overseeing the physician coding education curriculum for multiple large hospital health systems, working side by side with over 2500 providers. As the program chair of a medical coding program for a career college, in 2018, she identified the growing need for skilled coders in the billing and reimbursement sector, so she opened her (own) school to train for and proctor the professional coder credential. Through maintaining excellent relationships in the medical community, Ms. Williams built a coding mentorship network, a model whereby apprentice coders were placed in small and mid-sized practices, under her tutelage. She partnered with the business and clinical leadership to develop provider coding and documentation integrity programs and denials management initiatives. These deep analytical dives and intense collaboration models enhanced workflows and maximized reimbursement results. Proudly, she was one of the first in the industry to incorporate the concept of “denials coders”.
Ms. Williams is considered a “hybrid model” being a coder, auditor and physician educator with an extensive background in revenue cycle operations. Her strengths are communication and collaboration. She believes in the power of people and thrives on building trust and integrity in partnerships. She specializes in root cause analysis, research and resolutions which tailors’ solutions through continued advancement of technology and business intelligence, closes or bridges gaps, enhances workflows and ultimately, optimizes revenue!
